The IVECO S-WAY rigid rating is carried over from the S-WAY tractor, IVECO suggesting that the performance will be very similarregardless of chassis length and axle configuration. IVECO supplied a new 2025 S-WAY tractor unit for testing equipped with all available systems that Euro NCAP assess. It achieved a 2-star rating. Whilst its direct vision is average for a long haul cab, the optional camera monitor system for class II and IV views enhances both direct and indirect vision. The driver attention assist system observes directly for signs of driver distraction and fatigue. The ACC works in conjunction with the speed assist system to set the travel speed to the local speed limit, and also proved highly effective at preventing front to rear collisions. Assessed collision avoidance technologies available are limited to AEB for front to rear collisions with other vehicles. Its performance was rated as acceptable. The absence of safety technologies protecting pedestrians and cyclists suggests the S-WAY is most appropriate for highway operation.
