
The Nissan Interstar is a re-badged Renault Master. The 2024 Interstar scores well in all the aspects of active safety assessed by Euro NCAP. Some passive safety equipment is available only as an option (for example, a passenger airbag and side curtain airbag) but crash safety is not currently part of the assessment. Almost all critical ADAS functionalities are standard across Europe and the Interstar emerges from Euro NCAP's tests with a well-deserved Platinum rating.Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system is standard equipment throughout Europe. The system combines AEB with Forward Collision Warning (FCW) that detects vulnerable road users like pedestrians and cyclists as well as other vehicles. In Euro NCAP's tests of the system's reaction to vehicles, performance was good, tailing off only a little at higher speeds. Likewise, the system performed well in tests of its reaction to cyclists with collisions avoided in almost all scenarios. For pedestrians, AEB performance was adequate.
The standard-fit Lane Support System (LSS) gently steers the vehicle if it is drifting out of lane and intervenes more aggressively in some more critical situations to prevent the van from leaving the road. A blind-spot information system is available as an option.
The speed assistance system uses digital mapping and a camera to determine the local speed limit. This information is presented to the driver and the speed limiter can be set accordingly.
There is a standard-fit seatbelt reminder system for both the driver and passenger seat.
